Alright, we've already confirmed it. My G-love is a growin' girl.
Part of this growing involves wanting to do 'big girl' things like climb stairs, color, have strong opinions, and play outside. I'm so excited to see the little toddler she is growing up to be.
In an effort to keep working on our schedule that we talked about last week, I've set aside a little chunk of time each day for coloring & craft time. Even though she's still young for this, this time of the day has served as a time where we sit down together for one-on-one play time. I love getting to teach her how to hold a crayon. She loves breaking them in half. Alas, she shall learn.
See? That does a Momma's heart good!
I really wanted for G-love to have a place where she could sit down, read her books, color, etc., especially as she gets older. My first though was 'Oh, I'll just clean out this corner piece here and she can utilize that....' And then this happened:
Yikes. Fuh-get-about-it.
I moved that furniture piece upstairs to our bedroom (after I cleaned out the clutter!) and moved a new sweet little table in. Thanks Debbie for the donation!
What a sweet little wooden table. Perfect toddler size.
But, you know me, I couldn't help myself - I had to paint it 'Berry Blush'. So saucy.
Three coats of paint, multiple Anthony Bourdain episodes, a few cups of coffee, and a sore back later, she was finished! I loved how it turned out.
(It's more pink and less red than it looks in this picture). I also put together a few "Fun Boxes" for G that included crayons, markers, paper, old stickers, and some 'flarp' puddy. Who doesn't like to squish goopy things around in between their fingers?
I love how fast she's taken to this table - so proud of herself as she wiggles up into the chair and peels off a sticker.
Does a Momma's heart weap for the baby that has grown and gone? Or does it rejoice for the healthy, wonderful growth of that baby?
I sure do love this toddler. Full of kisses, snuggles, high-fives, and opinions.
That 'opinions' thing is only going to be fun for a little bit longer though.
Good thing she's cute.
Cute little craft table, love the color! I bet your little one would love the Stockmar beeswax block crayons, they last quite some time and are very hard to break, plus the beeswax is nice and natural. My kids are teens now, but when they were little I really loved these crayons.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. What a great idea. I just got some finger paints for Elijah's first birthday. Pretty sure he will eat the paint way before any gets on paper. Love the berry blush color and that you carved out an 'arts and crafts' space. :)
