We are so blessed.
I know, I say it over and over again, and I'm sure you're bound to get tired of it...but I just can't help but see the wonderful blessings that surround us each and every day.
A few days before Christmas, our dear neighbors (who have four little ones themselves) sent over a few pieces of furniture their little girls had outgrown. One was a little piece with four open shelves, the other was a small bookcase of sorts with four little drawers.
Isn't it darling?
While it doesn't match Georgia's current primary & jewel toned farmgirl nursery, who really cares. It's adorable and she loves it.
See?
She was in the bath when it arrived. Hence the nakedness. She was too excited to wait for clothes.
After the initial excitement wore off, we moved the furniture upstairs, rearranged her room, and added some of her new books to the shelves. I think they're so sweet.
I thought about painting them to match her decor more - maybe a fun jewel tone and then some fun little girl accents....what do you think?
Anyway. The color of the furniture pieces is not my point here. Forgive me for getting distracted, as usual.
Our neighbors were simply cleaning out the girls' bedroom and thought we might appreciate the furniture for our little girl - and we did. We really did. What seemed such a simple gift was such a wonderful way to bless us.
It's funny, isn't it? How such a small act can bless someone so richly. And this furniture was but a small representation of the wonderful ways our friends and family have surrounded us with community, friendship, and love during this season in our lives.
It's a wonderful thing - to condition ourselves to give and bless other in such a way. Sometimes, I get discouraged when I remember that we don't have the financial means to bless people in a monetary way - but that isn't the point either, is it? It's about thinking about others and their needs, even if that is in a small way.
Like recycled furniture for my sweet girl.
And Amen.
